Bird

Summerseat Players stage Katherine Chandler's Bird in the Geoffrey Sword Studio at the Theatre Royal in Ramsbottom from 17 to 24 October 2026, directed by company member Madeleine Haworth in her directorial debut. The play follows two young women leaving a care home as they reach adulthood, one of whom must face the mother she left behind. It won the Judges Award in the 2013 Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting and carries a content warning for strong language, violence and discussions of sexual abuse, suicide and self-harm.
