Elckerlijc

Elckerlijc is a Middle Dutch morality play from the late fifteenth century. Its Everyman figure is summoned by Death to account for his life before God. Friends, family and possessions ultimately cannot accompany him, turning the play into an allegory about mortality, responsibility and the value of virtue.
